SEMAT has conducted a test treatment of titanium yarns on the electrolytic plasma polishing machine Sk-EPP25 with a rewind mechanism.
The electrolytic plasma polishing technique allows to polish different alloys without using special electrodes as in the case of electrochemical polishing. The electrolyte does not contain any aggressive components. The workpiece is immersed in electrolyte and the electric current causes a vapour-gas shell, in which plasma discharges occur, "removing" the material layer from the surface, improving its quality. The presence of a wire rewind mechanism allows the filaments to be processed evenly without cutting them.
Examples of machining: Machining of twisted yarns made of of Titanium Alloy-6 ø0.3 mm.
Processing of twisted yarns of Titanium Alloy-6 ø0,3mm.
Machining of a titanium cube made of extruded filament from of Titanium Alloy-1 ø0,3 mm.
Results of machining: After electrolyte-plasma treatment, the surface of the titanium filament becomes clean, impurities and defects are removed.
