Russian-German Industry Forum 2021

The IV International Business Forum - 2021, with the theme "Transition of the Russian economy to a new technological mode", was organised in a hybrid format at the SAP Digital Leadership Centre, in partnership with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.



The aim of the large-scale event was to demonstrate the potential for effective cooperation between Russian and German companies, as well as to address strategic issues of Russian economic policy. The plenary session discussed the production of high-tech Russian components as one of the important prerequisites for business transformation, and the profile platforms considered current problems and prospects for individual industries, including metalworking.



During the discussion more than 30 leaders of major German and Russian companies (Siemens, Ruselprom, Electrical Machines, Transmashholding, Vilo Rus, ADVANT Byten, StankoMashStroy, BASF, Sartorius Stedim RUS, Schneider Group, OZON, Wildberries, Zelgros, Otto Group Russia, METRO AG and others) put forward concrete proposals for new aspects and forms of cooperation.

The welcoming speeches were made by Matthias Schepp, WTP Chairman and Head of German Economic Mission in Russia, Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and Dr. Geza Andreas von Geir, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Russian Federation.

Alexander Shokhin called WTPP a long-standing reliable partner and listed a number of cooperation initiatives such as the digital transformation (GRID), new mobility initiatives at SPIEF and mentioned "umbrella" forms of cooperation such as the Russia-Germany Economic Council, which held its first event last year. We will have to work hard, he said, for the Russia-Germany crossroads year in 2022, including support for small and medium-sized enterprises, social initiatives and taking modern technology to a higher and more reliable level.
German Ambassador Dr. Geza Andreas von Geir thanked the organizers for preparing and conducting the forum in a mixed format with a rich and informative program, noted the strengthening of German business presence in Russia, increasing the number of events held by the Embassy and WTP (over 1000 this year), strengthening cooperation in the field of localization, professional training, establishing of the Professional Education Center etc. He expressed hope for an increase in contacts between our countries next year, not only in the economy but also in tourism, culture and social sphere in the form of public diplomacy.
One of the complicated tasks for Russia today is to produce modern equipment for switching to renewable energy sources, in particular for production of hydrogen. 
Yevgeny Gribov, director of the Department of Machine Building for the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that new opportunities are opening up for the joint development of modern high-tech equipment, new turbines, heating systems, using an atlas of projects focused on hydrogen and ammonia production. According to him, one of the challenging tasks for Russia today is to produce modern equipment for the transition to renewable energy sources, in particular for hydrogen production.
Dr Alexander Liberov, CEO of Siemens LLC and President of Siemens in Russia, noted the importance of localisation as a means of developing technologies and expanding the supplier base, and spoke about his company's "revolutionary plans".

Oleg Kochetkov touched upon important issues of interregional cooperation and personnel training for the machine tool industry and localization of production of high-tech Russian components. At the end of the discussion platform, the participants proposed to create a working group to resolve the issues arising in the field of metalworking.
Leading domestic and foreign representatives of the metalworking industry including Pavel Belikov, Chairman of the National Union of Equipment and Tool Suppliers for Metalworking, Yury Gulyaev, General Director of StankoMashStroy Oleg Kochetkov, General Director of Schaeffler Russland Maxim Shakhov, Managing Partner of STT Special Tool Technology Peter Lando and Deputy General Director of DMG MORI Rus Rustam Alyautdinov were also invited to the Metalworking Forum.
A partnership agreement between the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce and the Agency for Technological Development was also signed on the forum's sidelines.
After the end of the Business Forum, Pavel Belikov, Chairman of NSPOIM, and Oleg Kochetkov, General Director of StankoMashStroy LLC, visited SEMAT.


On the territory of our technical laboratory in Skolkovo they discussed specifics of application of electrochemical machines and ultrasonic hardening installations SEMAT. Oleg Kochetkov was pleasantly surprised with our achievements in this field.
